KINO MACGREGOR

As the youngest woman to receive the Ashtanga yoga certification, Kino Macgregor has completed the challenging Third Series and is now learning the Fourth Series. Based at her yoga teaching center in Miami, she travels throughout the world sharing her message of Ashtanga Yoga.

Without any previous knowledge in movement training, Kino MacGregor tried her first yoga class at the early age of 19. Three years later, she joined Govinda Kai's Mysore-style classes in New York City and became a devoted Ashtanga Yoga practitioner. After seven months of traditional Ashtanga practice, Macgregor traveled to Mysore, India to meet her true spiritual teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois ("Guruji"). After seven years of consistent trips to Mysore, at the age of 29, she received the Certification to teach Ashtanga Yoga and has since has worked tirelessly to spread the inspiration and benefits of practicing.

After devoting a major portion of her life in personal growth work, Kino Macgregor returned to her home of Miami Beach to create an area devoted to the incorporation of yoga, and holistic health. In 2006, she and her husband, Tim Feldmann, founded Miami Life Center, where together they now facilitate daily classes, and workshops in addition to upholding an international traveling and teaching schedule.

 Kino’s dharma is to help people experience the limitless potential of the human spirit through the inner tradition of yoga. She is one of the few people in the world of yoga to embrace both the traditional teaching of India’s historic past and the popular contemporary social media channels. You can find her teaching classes and workshops all over the world and on Kino Yoga Instagram with over 1 Million followers and on Kino Yoga YouTube channel with over 90 million views. With more than 15 years of experience in Ashtanga Yoga, she is one of a select group of people to receive the Certification to teach Ashtanga Yoga by its founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and practice through the Fourth Series of Ashtanga Yoga.

DAY 1 - 28th APRIL 2017

Fearless Backbends
If you enjoy a challenge but think you are too stiff to ever bend your back then this is the perfect class for you. By understanding how to work your body in a safe way you will learn what it takes to really bend over backwards with no fear. The secrets of deep backbends are available to you through the integration of sound anatomical principles, healthy alignment techniques and intensely fun stretches. The dynamic movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to limitless flows of energy and in this class you will begin to explore you natural potential to for deep backbends with safety, support and enthusiasm.


DAY 2 - 29 APRIL 2017

Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series
Surrender to the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method with careful emphasis on the traditional vinyasa method and have fun along the journey. Experience the integrity and purity of the Ashtanga Yoga
practice and be  prepared to sweat.

Twist into Your Center
Deep twisting increases energy levels, cleanses the body and opens the mind to new levels of awareness. Find the perfect balance between activation and release in this new approach to twisting. Learn healthy technique to increase flexibility in your spine and shoulders while creating solid foundation in your pelvis. Use the core strength of the body to support the twisting and extension. You will have fun with many levels of twists and even use the twisting position to enter some challenging arm balances!


 

DAY 3 - 30th APRIL 2017

Inversions, Handstanding & the Art of Balance
Turning yourself upside down challenges the body’s sense of spatial orientation, the limits of physical strength and the mind’s outer edges of fear. In this class you will learn to approach inversions
with sound anatomical principles, an open mind, excitement and fun. You will experience first hand that it takes much more than brute strength to steady yourself on your hands. You will see how easy it really is to let yourself slide into postures, positions and inversions that you think are impossible with just the slightest change of perspective. Everything from shoulderstand to downward dog
to handstand is part of the game.

Open Your Hips
Gain access to the energy centers deep within the pelvis and learn to relax and release your hips into freedom. With a careful anatomical understanding of the muscular and skeletal activation needed to access the natural external hip rotation available to everyone you will have fun exploring the interior spaces of your hip joints. Make contact with your hips and unlock their potential for movement.

Intro to Second Series
Ashtanga Yoga’s Second Series, called Nadi Shodhana, works to cleanse the nervous system through a series of rigorous strength, backhanding, twisting and hip opening postures. This class makes the challenging postures of the Intermediate series accessible and approachable to all interested practitioners. The inspired beginner will find easy, fun and approachable techniques to some of Ashtanga yoga’s most challenging postures, while the avid practitioner and seasoned veteran will find new techniques to inspire their practice to new levels of precision. Prior experience with Ashtanga yoga recommended.
